Privacy policy

Last updated · Feb 12, 2026

Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data Clarity Companion collects, why we collect it, how it’s used, and the choices you have.

1. What we collect

Things you give us

  • Situations you enter — the free-text descriptions and follow-up answers you submit for analysis, plus any tags or outcomes you attach.
  • Account info (only if you sign in) — your name, email address, and profile picture provided by Google Sign-In.
  • Billing info (only if you subscribe) — handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.

Things collected automatically

  • Session identifiers — a random ID stored in your browser so we can attribute page views and events to the same visitor.
  • Product analytics events — which pages you visit, when you start / submit an analysis, when you hit the paywall, etc. Used to understand overall conversion. Not sold to third parties.
  • Basic technical info — user-agent, approximate device type, and error diagnostics.

2. What we don’t collect

  • We do not track you across the wider web.
  • We do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not fingerprint your device for tracking purposes.

3. How your situations are processed

When you submit a situation for analysis, the text is sent to a large-language-model provider (Anthropic’s Claude) to generate the analysis. The provider processes the request under their own privacy terms and, per their policy, does not use API traffic to train their models.

Situations you enter while not signed in are stored anonymously and are not tied to a personal profile. Situations you enter while signed in are saved to your history so you can revisit, tag, and follow up on them.

4. How we use the data

  • To generate and display your analyses.
  • To save your history and enable Pro features you’ve subscribed to.
  • To process payments and prevent fraud.
  • To understand aggregate product performance (e.g., which steps of the funnel lose users) so we can improve the Service.
  • To send transactional emails you’ve opted into (e.g., receipts).

5. Sharing

We only share personal data with:

  • Anthropic — receives the text of the situation to generate the AI analysis.
  • Google — verifies your identity when you sign in.
  • Stripe — processes your subscription payments.
  • Our hosting infrastructure — the servers and database that keep the Service running.
  • Law enforcement — only when required by valid legal process.

6. Retention

Signed-in users’ analyses are kept until you delete them or your account. Anonymous analyses are kept for up to 12 months for abuse prevention and then automatically purged. Payment records are kept as long as required by tax and accounting law.

7. Your choices

  • Access & export — signed-in users can download their full history as JSON or CSV from the History page.
  • Deletion — you can delete individual analyses from your history, or email us to delete your entire account.
  • Opt-out of analytics — set your browser’s Do Not Track signal or use private browsing; we’ll only track what’s strictly necessary to operate the Service.

8. Cookies & local storage

We use browser localStorage and sessionStorage for essentials like your analytics session ID, referral code, theme preference, and dismissal state of in-app banners. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

9. Security

We use TLS in transit, encrypted storage at rest for sensitive fields, and follow reasonable industry practices. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong password on your Google account.

10. Children

Clarity Companion is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please email us so we can delete it.

11. International users

By using the Service, you consent to your data being processed in the countries where our infrastructure providers operate. Where applicable, we rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent legal mechanisms for cross-border transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy, we’ll notify you in-app or by email before the changes take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version.
